Can playing as a lag/maniac be profitable?

I decided to step down to 3/6 and try playing a much looser, much more action ridden game. During my days in 5/10 I noticed 2 things: LAGs got lots of action with their good hands and LAGs lost a ton of money in the long run. (Even in the short run). So I decided to play 45/30/3+ for a few hundred hands to see the general feel I got.

I was looking at why they were losing money in my games and although it was partially because they played too many hands, they were paying off other peoples' hands by raising too much when they were beat.

Is it possible, with very good to excellent postflop play, for a LAG to make money? What do you think the limit to VPIP etc are in order for the lag to be most profitable?

I am myself 33/21 on 10/20 wish some might consider lag. I beleive its possible to keep around 38 vpip.
Don't ask me why.=)

If your going to play that many hands, you should be folding alot of flops and waiting to have a signifigant edge and push it, and push it very agressively. Just playing with the same aggressiveness if you played only 24% of the hands and pushing smaller edges would be silly.

You won't win nearly enough hands as a LAG if you only push your significant edges.

In my winning session as a 45/30/3+ lag at Party 3/6 I won 23.5% of hands. This is in comparison to my 26/15/1.5 5/10 stats where I win about 15.5% of hands.

If your winning that much when playing that many hands....your running good, simply put.

Sounds like you figured everything out without our help. Good luck.

I know I was running somewhat well, but my point here is that a very good postflop player can probably make money playing this way.

BTW, all my profit essentially came from 2 hands, when I flopped top set and some TAG capped me turn/flop with 2 pair, and when I flopped the nut flush, and some dude with a set decided not to respect the fact that I capped every street.

The whole reason I bring up this discussion is because I'm not happy just winning 2BB/100 at 5/10 6max when I think there's a lot more money to be extracted there. The best postflop players should maximize their profit by maximizing points when they can outplay their opponents. I'm not one of those, but some people here are--and I'd like to see them try playing 35/25 or 40/30 and see how it turns out.

I'm not nearly good enough postflop to win this way.

Don't speak the name. I fear that doing so will unleash an unspeakable horror upon us.

That was very interesting...there was another post by a 50VPIP guy who killed 10/20 6max for 12K hands or something.

I'm interested to see how a player like incog66 plays postflop to be a (possibly winning)? player with 56/35 stats.
