Why we make crying calls... (low content)

Hi all. As you can see from my post count, I'm a noob here. Just recently started making money using the SSH techniques. Here's a recent hand that looked like certain death on the river, but remembering Ed Miller's "you fold too much" advice on this forum, I made a crying call and got a pleasant surprise.

From Pacific, so I can't use hand converter:

$1/$2 Limit Hold'em

Seat 9 is the button
Total number of players : 8
2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, Hero calls w/ KTo (it was a loose table), CO calls, SB calls, BB checks.

** Dealing Flop ** [ 4h, 3c, 10h ]
Check, Check, Bet, fold, Hero raises, fold, fold, call, call.
** Dealing Turn ** [ Qc ]
Checked to hero, hero bets, both call.
** Dealing River ** [ 7h ]
Check, bet, hero makes crying call with 3 hearts on the board and one bettor still to come, next bettor folds.
Villain turns over [ 2s 2d ].
Hero shows [ 10c Kd ].
Hero collected 10.5BB

There was a 3rd heart on the board and someone bet right out into the flop raisor/turn bettor. They're representing a flush, and a very weak player might fold here, thinking they're beat to save 1BB. In reality, since we're getting 9.5:1 pot odds, we'd only have to have the best hand more than 10.5% of the time to make this call EV+.
