tournament poker detrimental to your cash game?
 

I was never really into the multi table tourneys but in the last 6 months I've made vow to play those and maybe make a big showing at one of the WPTs or WSOPs.

I haven't done too bad in the multis a 4th and 8th in the Stars sunday and a 6th in the party million guart. But looking over those 3 high finishes I got my money in real bad 9 times and got lucky.

Before my tourney concentration it wasn't unusual for me to win 9 out of 10 NL sessions and I rarely if ever got my money in bad. But as I play more multi's I find myself making very suspect plays in my cash games.

My roomates also agree in minor degrees that tourn. poker habits somehow leak into their cash game regardless of how hard they try.

I had to switch to SNGs as my backbone after I got serious about MTTs. I only play NL ring games live, or very low limit to clear a bonus.

I agree. I only play 6 seat NL cash games.

Ditto. But my cash holdem game sucks which is why I only play tournaments and 7 card stud pl.

def. in the same boat there guys, mtts have been solid, while I'm throwing $ away in the 6 max .50-1.00, 1-2 nls, as well as sh limit play. I haven't seen the same trend in cash games that are 'live' though. However my play is limited to a weekly live game with the same group of players, who aren't the toughest group.

Any reading suggestions to look into? Obviously the 'patient' waiting game style many employ in full tournament games/situations just does not cross over well when you consider a high % of situations have considerably less folding equity
MTT players who wish to maintain their style might try full ring nl games, or even 9-10 handed limit hold em games. I like the idea of playing sNgos to build bankroll, but I play primarily on Stars and they have 'too' good of a structure in my opinion and last up to 50% longer than the same event on Party. (Obviously some may prefer the better structure - however I am considering the time constraints.

If you were winning anything close to 90% of your sessions, either you were playing really long session, running hella good, or.....

you sound rich. you had have great finishes in some big tourneys. WTF is your question?
