what if.....

just something i was thiking about. what would happen if in a 20 dollar party sng for example, if all 10 people went all in the very first hand. one person wins the hand and takes first but what happens to the prizes for 2nd and 3rd?

Re: what if.....

I guess they all tie for the remaining 5 buyins.

Of course, at least the two blinds should never ever call the other 8 allins even if they had AA.

What if the all-in didn't happen at once, but instead it was a series of min-raises?

Re: what if.....

It doesn't matter. The last two that are not allin should fold, even if they had AA and only 1 chip left. AA is only 30 % against 9 random hands => EV = 30% x 5 buy ins = 1.5 buyins + 70% x 5 buy ins / 9 (if 2nd and 3rd is chopped 9 way) = 1.88 buyins. If you fold you are guaranteed to get 2 buyins and have a shot at 2nd place if the other fold is at the same chip size.

i know that they should fold but i just wondered if partys software would know what to do. it would be funny if the entire system went down because of 10 fish in a sit and go.

The 9 losers all tie for the 2nd/3rd prizes. In a $22, thats $60/9 + $40/9 = $11.11 per
Also, it doesnt matter how the money gets in, be it push-> 9xcall or minraising back and forth. Rankings are determined by # of chips at start of hand , not who gets allin first.

ANd yes, the PP software does calculate theis automatically. At least for two-way ties. Ive been tied shortstack when 4 handed, we both got in, we bot lose, and we both got a $20 prize from a $22 (half of 3rd place)
