15-30 KJo

i'm playing in a full 15-30 game.

UTG is a player who is straightforward and he doesn't do much bluffing. He makes a few mistakes such as raising with unsuited broadway cards in multiway pots from the BB and open limps with weak hands and open raises with typical raising hands.

The player to my left is weak, he cold calls raises too much, rarely 3-bets preflop, limps and calls 3-bets, but after the flop he plays ok.

Onto the hand.

I'm in early to mid position.

UTG limps.

I have KhJd.

I raise. I raise because even though my hand isn't good a limp to me indicates weakness from this opponnent and my raises are being respected.

The guy to my left calls cold, the button calls, The SB calls, the BB calls.

So much for respect.

so there are 5 of us to the flop.

The flop is K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Its checked to UTG who lead bets.
I call.

I call with the intention of folding on the turn if a flush card comes, and probably fold if there is too much action behind me. I also call with the intention of raising if a blank hits.

The man to my left calls. Everyone else folds.

3 players to the turn.

Turn is a K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

UTG leads. I think for a second trying to analyze his hand but my emotion catches up with me, I don't care what he has, I have trips so I raise.

The guy behind me makes it 3 bets.
Utt ohh.

UTG calls.
I call.

On the river is a 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

UTG checks. I check. Man behind me bets. UTG calls.
Does this action that took place on the turn enough to fold for one bet on the river?

Well I look at it like this.

If UTG is a straitforward player, he almost always has a K or a flush, I doubt he would be calling down with 88 (or leading with it).

So given that UTG has a K (or has you beat), what can the guy behind you have? He can only have a flush, and it is probably the nut flush or he might have tried to protect it on the flop.

The only way you win this hand is if the guy behind you turns over KT and UTG turns over A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7x. THat would be quit the parlay.

I would fold preflop.

I have to agree. This is one of those "trouble hands" that are tempting to play when someone limps in before you. However this is a tough one to play in early-middle position, especially if the texture of the game is such that you can anticipate a multi-way pot. Of the options you have, I like raising better than calling, but folding pre-flop would be the better one.

I think the decision of folding should of been made on the turn but now that you put all that money you have to call one bet on the river.

Uh, no way. You do realize we have ten outs on the turn, right?

Your right, but still are you folding this getting
18 to 1?? Only need to be right like 5 out 100 times

Hi Mikey,

This is a very interesting hand. Unless you missed your reads, this is a river fold. UTG probably has a flush and the dude behind you has the case king or more likely flopped a set. Hard to beat both players, you know?

I do agree with a few others about folding preflop, even though it's not the point of your post. If this game had tightened up tremendously with weak, passive players, then a pf raise has more validity. But I don't like this hand in this early of position.

Absolutely not. I'm playing hands worse than KJo here.

The K on the turn makes your hand look pretty but also makes two aggressively played hands easier to read. I fold.
