Villain has been playing some nonsensical hands since he's sat down short stacked. Part of me feels like I played this wrong. Should I have just went after it on the flop?

Just make sure that you mix it up between raising the flop and waiting to raise the turn, I think that's the most important thing. Sure the flop is drawy, but it's heads up... either line is good enough I think.
