20/40 hand, very boring

folds to button who limps, i complete the sb with JTs, bb checks.

Flop Q9x all spades. I have none. I lead, button raises, I call.

Turn, blank. I check, button bets, I call.

River, off suit king. I check, button bets. I raise, Button goes 3. I?

Thanks!

I'd raise preflop. Since you didn't the turn call is thin. I'd just bet call the river.

why do i raise JTs out of position in a small pot preflop?

To get it heads up with the button. I assume he's pretty bad because of the open limp. I guess not if the BB will never fold, but lots of the time.

i would probably raise preflop also, unless a button openlimp means a monster from this player, most likely it just means he not a good player...

reasons to raise:
you have the best hand
knock out an A/K/Q from the BB (knock out BB)
take control of the hand to win with a bet on the flop

Takign control of the hand is really the best reason. Usually how it goes is the BB folds, button calls, flop goes bet fold.
