100PL Endbet w Trips

Party Poker Pot-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (8 handed) converter

What;s the right play on the end?
UTG ($22.25)
UTG+1 ($248.25)
MP1 ($104.75)
MP2 ($96.15)
Hero ($111.45)
Button ($134.57)
SB ($100.8)
BB ($60.75)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG calls $1, 3 folds, Hero raises to $3, Button calls $3, 1 fold, BB calls $2, UTG calls $2.

Flop: ($12.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB bets $4, UTG folds, Hero calls $4, Button calls $4.
Hero slowplays it on the flop.

Turn: ($24.50) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets $8, Hero raises to $16, Button calls $16, BB folds.
Hero wants to see if there's another A out there--and there must be.

River: ($64.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: $64.5

Villain checks. What's the right play here?

Raise the turn more for value. Any ace will be calling you.

Thanks for the advice on the turn. Now, what about the end-bet?

you lost tons of money here playing like you did. as played you made the least while giving away the most information possible.

make the flop 15 and the turn 40. then the river plays itself.

ok, ok, i get the turn advice...but the river does not necessarily "play itself". Somebody, please give some thought to the river problem I am asking about...

If you have no interest or insight in a question, wouldn't it be ok to skip over it rather than insulting me?

Would it help if I told you I lost a bundle to A4?

If I bet the pot on the end--which I did, all proud of my "great" kicker, I was forgetting about the fact that he would also realize I had an A. So if he's a good player, he'd fold A2,A3,A5,A6,A7. He would definitely call with AK, AQ, AJ. ...and I lose to A9, A4 and 99, all of which are possibilities.

So, let me re-pose the question: does the fact that Party has a bunch of fish justify betting all the marbles on the end, or do you apply the old "the only hand that will call you is one that can beat you" principle?

Re: 100PL Endbet w Trips

the reason that you have to bet on the end is because you mangled the hand on earlier streets. if you had raised the flop and properly bet the turn, then a check-behind on the river could be fine.

in the actual hand, i'm assuming you made a bet and he pushed? that should have been an easy fold for you.

EDIT: nevermind, his stack was short that you'd have to call a push on the end.

There's four streets in poker, the river is just one of them.

If you don't play the others correctly you're setting yourself up for some tough decisions with no information at all.
