You're getting 9:1. Needing 11:1 you can usually make this call with most inside straights. The difference here is that you will often chop, be pwned by the rake, and your implied odds with AKQJ on the board are not great. I tend to fold.

Not nearly as much as you would think -- people tend to get skittish when there is four to Broadway on the board, and (somewhat) rightfully so.

Regardless, there's enough here to peel -- you're 1.5 SBs short with one to go, so if you make your hand either everyone folds to your bet or you will make up the difference.

[Err you're two BBs short (yay rake) and you will chop this quite a bit. Meh. You can fold this with little remorse.]

Why do I need 11-to-1?

I think he means 11:1 in implied odds. I'd call here.

Plenty.

You have odds of 11 to 1 to hit your straight on the turn.

If you miss you have odds of 10.5 to 1 to hit your straight on the river.

On the flop, you have odds of 5 to 1 to hit your straight by the river.

You were being offered pot odds of about 9 to 1. So you should have called.

Your implied odds were great. If you made your straight, you were probably going to collect a lot of extra bets.
