wsop chips

I think that whoever was in charge of the chips for this year's wsop screwed up.

has anyone noticed this year that the 5k chips have the exact save pattern as the 10k chips from last year and vice versa? also, there isn't a comma in the 5k chip. sorry i don't have the pic from last year's chips, but if you saw any of the coverage last year, you would know what i'm talking about.

Yes I noticed the color screw up, which MUST be a screw up because all of the other colors are the same. I also noticed that Rio did not put 2005 on the chips so they could re-use them next year. Cheap!

If by "cheap" you mean "smart", then I agree.

For the $800 vig we have to pay for the main event, I could bring my own chips with my picture on them.

Fair enough - sounds like you'd have just enough left over to hire a homeless guy to be the dealer, too.

But I'm sure if you were running the WSOP, you'd pull out all the stops, and give the participants the most high-quality luxury tournament chips, complete with year and "Freshness date" stamp on them, instead of simply buying durable chips that you can use for several years and save a hell of a lot of money.

Because Binion's Horshoe was such a poorly run casino that they nearly went backrupt over a year ago. To save themselves, they sold the WSOP to Harrah's (which owns the Rio).

The Rio has far better facilities to run an event like this.
