How many already enrolled for main event?
 

Was thinking about heading to LV to play in the Rio super-sats for main event. However, I'm concerned the main event will sell out prior to that, so they'll cancel the schedule. Anyone have insight into this? Is there a way to track how many have enrolled for the main event thus far?

Bump. Anyone have insight? I'd hate to fly to Vegas to find that SuperSats have been cancelled.

Have you called the Rio? They would be the only source you could be 100% certain was right.

Yep (and of course, I will continue to monitor). But Rio says "plenty of seats" and "no plans to cancel anything." The person I spoke with via phone didn't really know what was up. I thought a 2+2er "on the ground" might have some additional info.

When I received my Day 1 confirmation two weeks ago, I asked how many seats were gone and they told me about 1600.

When I was there for Event #2, the word from several of the late registrants was that they were being told at the registration cage that they (Harrahs) are prepared to add a 4th "Day 1" to the ME instead of capping it at 6,600 as previously reported. That would mean that they need to get down to 500 out of 2,200 on each Day 1 in order to keep from splitting up Day 2 as well.

We shall see...

Just in case anyone is interested, I finally reached someone in the Rio who knew what they were talking about and was told that as of today, June 26, 3,700 players have signed up for the ME, so the super-sats will go on as scheduled.

(Just an aside, getting this information was a Kafka-esque exercise. I called because I wanted to confirm that the ME wasn't sold out. After being transferred 3 times, I finally reached someone in the WSOP store who assured me there was no risk of selling out of WSOP T-shirts!. We had a good laugh, but his was a "non-transfer" phone, so he couldn't connect me to anyone else. I had to hand up and start again (for the 4th time)

A UK player posted an article a couple of days ago which they had spoke to one of the tournament directors who had said they were not expecting it to get past 6,000 runners.

Well damnit! I'd heard it repeated so much that there would be 6600 people entered that I'd begun to take it as an article of faith. Dang it for shattered expectations. can't trust in anything anymore.

Screw it, I'm done with religion too...
