WSOP 10,000 entries!
 

A dealer told me at a one table satellite last night that the main event number of entries has been raised from 6,600 to 10,000. 11-handed with added days, he said.

I doubt it. They may increase the number slightly above 6600, but there is no way that they are adding days

I wonder...PokerStars is saying that they are giving away 810 seats "and counting"...there's probably enough demand to go to 10,000 regardless if it pisses some off.

No chance. 6600 will be pushing it. I'll readjust my estimate from 4500 to 5500, but 10k players WON'T happen, period.

If they cap it at 6600 there will be 6600 poeple. It would go much higher than that if they allow it. Not sure about 10k but defintily way higher than 6600 if they let it.

I don't know if it's relevant, but at a local casino that runs monthly WSOP ME satellites, they said the most recent (June) winner's entry was numbered above 7000, and the floorperson I was talking to was pretty sure that indicated how many were in at that point.

I was speaking with a director two days ago at the Rio, and she said that there will defintly be a cap, but that number HAS NOT YET BEEN ESTABLISHED, and that 6,600 was simply a number that was thrown out there. After preregistration completes, she said that they will most likely accomadte as many walk up cash registrations that are available. I do not think it will reach any where near 10,000...but dont be surprised if we see 7000-7500

There's logic to the 6600 number.
They have 200 tables, exactly.
At 11 players per table, thats 2200 per day, at 3 days, therefore 6600.

I assume that they are going to take alternates during the 1st hour, which I believe they did for event #2.

Figure 130 or so alternates a day, my guess is about 7000.

I came back on Monday, so I don't have any updated info since then.

I was at the Rio a couple days ago. I believe they have more than 200 tables, especially if they use the cash game tables during the main event.
