stealing from the blinds

i just got moved to this table (into the bb from the CO - grrrrr....) these are my first two hands.

blinds 200/400, 57 left, 40 pay. 100+9. first money spot pays relatively high for a party mtt, about $230. 1st is 8.2k.

hand 1: folded to SB (8k), who completes. i have Q8o and 1800 behind after posting. i push. SB folds.

hand 2: i have Q2o and 2400 behind after posting the T200 SB. folded to me and i push. the BB has about 9k.

with 57 players left, why are you pushing from Sb with Q2o, that is very aggressive... I think he will fold to a min raise just as much, and if he calls you pray you have 2 live cards.

You have lots of money left, and the blinds are within reason of placing.

I hope the BB didn't cut you off.

Standard.

You can argue about he second push given the first one just happened and you are more likely to be called...blah,blah,blah, but its still +EV (factor in almost any FE and its +EV) and you need chips now.

I love the first one.

The second one, if the BB was a little closer to your stack size (6k or less) I think is fine, but your stack is really not a danger to his. If you hadn't pushed the first one I would still push, but since you did I would fold.

Hand 1 I think is not bad, the second hand I don't know, he's got you covered enough that he may call with any ace. That's a tough one. I probably wouldn't push there. Awesome question though, I find myself in this position quite often. Can't wait for some more opinions on this.

I do understand about the +EV for the second one, but... maybe I'm playing scared.

Re: stealing from the blinds

As other people said, I might not make the second push merely because I'd pushed the hand before. I guess you don't have a table image since you just moved here; this second push could really damage your FE in the future, only because you have just pushed your first two hands at this table. If people are paying attention you're probably going to be reasonably more likely to get looked up in the future, if not on the Q2 push. All that said, I really, really hate folding in the SB if no one is in the pot so I might have to push just on principle.

I like both of these pushes. Almost a no-brainer.

Re: stealing from the blinds

I agree with those that say the first push is good, but the second is more questionable. My reasoning is not only are you more likely to get called the second time, but if you don't people will label you as just trying to double up or go out and will call you down in the future.
