Folding a overpair on the river
 

I am trying to stop paying off when it seems obvious I am beaten. Should I call the last bet in these spots?

I don't think it's obvious that you are beaten in either case. I call 'em both down.

Hand 1: seems OK for 2/4 - @ 5/10 I think I am calling that river raise because even the loose passives get cute enough to justify it.

Hand 2: raise the turn and the hand plays differently Given the situation you are in against an unknown river raise, I am going to showdown.

First one: fold.
Second one I'd fold but I wouldn't like it. Too many ways loose opponents could have you beaten in that spot.

fold 1 is easy. I have a hard time laying down hand 2 without a read

not really. he's got kings up. it may look obvious that UTG+1 flopped a flush but without a read in a big pot with a good hand, it's tough to make that kind of laydown

Hand 1: You need to be 87% sure you're beaten to fold. I'd only be 86% sure. Call and cry.
Edit: I didn't notice that you'd pegged villain as passive. I guess that tips me to fold.

Hand 2: Raise the turn. Lacking that, you're now facing two bets on a monotone-flopped, paired board with a crazy straight possible, and with the pre-flop capper still in. I'd make a crying fold.
