1) It was confirmed in May. 5 Indian tribes received compacts already, possibly more to come

2) Its not only the Catskills, its all over upstate NY

3) Unknown if Poker will be included, but from the looks of things so far the Legislation is making things very easy for the tribes.

4) Monticello Racetrack already has Slots I am told, I just found this out yesterday. They moved VERY fast.

5) The first expected casino will be at the Concord Inn in the Catskills. Projected opening is Q42005 - Q1 2006. Talk about acting fast, these guys waste no time!

I don't think anything is definitely set in stone yet in terms of construction starting. IMO no live Class III gaming until mid-2006 the earliest.

Monticello and several other upstate racetracks added VLT's last summer. these are not "true" random slots like vegas and AC, rather they are dumb terminals linked to the NY Lottery network and programmed to pay out exactly 92% of all wagers. even the video poker machines are 'rigged' to yield favorable draws as needed to maintain accounting. doesn't mean it's bad to play for entertainment, but people should know in advance how the games work.

also note that the addition of racetrack VLT's are NOT directly related to the development of indian casinos in sullivan county. that is a separate pact between the racetracks and the state lottery, and will continue to run regardless of whether or not the Cayuga and Mohawk deals go through. the larger tracks run by NYRA such as Aqueduct and Belmont are also getting ready to add video lottery terminals, but not expanding to full casino gambling. this is the difference between Class II and Class III licenses.

as far as I know, the indian pacts are only slated to build in Sullivan County sites in Monticello, Thompsonville, Kiamesha Lake and two other locations on or around route 17. no other upstate locations which don't already exist have any deals to build.

the Times Herald-Record has created a special website section to cover the ongoing developments.

I have seen at least one environmental impact statement suggesting that plans do call for a poker room. I can't find the link now, but I did find an email I sent to my wife describing the EIS's description:

"The casino itself is expected to employ 3,485 full-time workers. They estimate those jobs will add up to $93 million in the first year. The average annual wage would be $30,700 plus tips. The casino would also feature a 41,000-square-foot bingo parlor and 12,000-square-foot poker room."

At TS yesterday one of the dealers was talking about how there are commercials running for support and advertising of the new casino. Obviously the heads of TS are trying to stop it but NY gov wants it since I am sure they will setup a deal to get a cut of the profits unlike what they have currently with TS.

Originally, I heard that there was going to be a brand name listed with this project as well...(Caesars/Harrahs...) I am 95% certain that is what I read well over a year ago... I would assume that poker is going to be included in this project... Currently, Seneca Niagara and Turning Stone casinos, both tribal run in the state of NY, have had tremendous success with their poker rooms... Please keep us up to date with any hard facts on this project...

12,000 square feet? If that is true then that place will probably hold about 70-80 tables. Does that seem right?
