Voice Activated Poker!!!
 

I'm not sure if this has been done before but i have recently been feeling the symptons of rsi. have purchased the gyroscopic mouse and tried mouseless keyboard poker but neither really helped with the problem.

so because of rsi and because i'm a lazy bastard I've setup a quick and dirty voice activated poker system using Dragon Speaks Naturally Pro. I say quick and dirty because i have voice macro's setup to press the hotkey i have asigned through the mouseless poker system. (like i said.. lazy bastard)

I currently have it setup to handle 8 tables (4 per monitor), by which i choose by saying "Table One" thru to "Table 8". and the current commands are "fold", "Check", "Call", "bet", "raise", "Reraise", "Auto-Post" and "Deal me out"

For now i guess this is only going to work for limit poker, and there's a half a second delay between saying the command and it happening. since i usally only 4 table i've only tested it 4 tabling and haven't had a problem with timing out. i'll try it out on 4 - 6max tables tomorrow.

Since i was being lazy today i cheated at the setup. i'll try and find some time to setup actual dragon vb scripts to eliminate the virtual keypress that it does right now. and if anyone's interested i'll post them.

Sounds cool, but I can see potential problems. "Table 4, Raise". Oops, I meant table 3. Damn! Too late.

same thing can happen with mouseless poker, but right now i have sticky pads on my monitor noting each table lol.

Don't get me started: a 12' Projection screen, La-Z-Boy, macro-programmable IR remote, and a HTPC running GIRD in my home theater... the pieces are all there. Just one burst of ambitious macro-programming, and a strap-on urinal separate me from an irreversible decline to Jabba the Hut.

I bought Dragon Pro about 6 months ago for the same reason...to voice play poker due to RSI. Fortunately my hands heal themselves after a week or so when I overdo it (they get numb and start to curl) so I've just been limiting my play rather than get crazy with Dragon. Really interested in hearing your results though.

PS - I only have version 7, is the upgrade to 8 worth it?

I did have that setup but then i was starting to dictate an email and when i started to say a phone number the pointer went crazy [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

once i make a dedicated poker user in dragon i'll drop it down to just having to say the table number.

I haven't used version 7 so i'm not sure, but from what i understand version 8 has made leaps and bounds when it comes to understanding what is said. whenever i talk to it, i try to talk faster than i normally would and only have to make a few corrections.
