Protecting 2 pair, done well or even needed?

Neither the CO nor the button are anything but donks, Button less so. They're both loose-passive.

PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (4 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] .
Hero bets,
CO calls, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, Button raises, BB folds, Hero calls, CO calls.

Turn: (6.25 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks, Button bets, Hero raises, CO calls, Button calls.

River: (10.25 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Button calls $0.50 (All-In), Hero calls.

Final Pot: 13.37 BB

I don't mind posting how I played it out as I don't think that's important. My question is should I be worried about protecting this two pair since there are no big draws out there? Should I get my raise in on the turn or let the CO call and raise the river if I'm sure that the button will raise the river?

Of course, as I'm typing this, I'm thinking that the button's going to be all in on the river and CO might drop his hand to 2 bets on the river anyway. For the sake of argument, assume button is fully loaded. Thoughts?

What are you even trying to protect your hand against?

Your only concern should be getting the most money in the pot

3-bet this flop. CO called 1 bet, he will probably coldcall 2 more. Why risk a check through on the turn when they are willing to pay you off on the flop?

Agreed. Fastplay is the new slowplay.

If I only call the flop raise, I donk the turn for sure.

Then why not 3 bet and lead the turn? The only reason to just call the flop would be to try for a checkraise.

No need to be confused, UTG1 rivered a str8 with KTs. I didn't post it b/c this is not a bad beat post nor do I think the results mattered any. UTG1 was completely wrong to call here.

I usually agree that fast is the new slowplay. I guess I should add that I c/r the turn b/c 1) I was confident that button was not sophisticated enough to use the flop raise to get a free card on the turn and would lead out if checked to AND 2) I still was not worried about any draws even if it was checked through.

Because I'm looking to bet-3bet, not drive out the guy in the middle without him putting money in on the turn.

I like going to town on the flop better, too, but if for some reason I just call the flop raise, then bet trying to threebet is better than going for a c/r, I think.

I'm confused because you are UTG. Seems to be a problem with the converter.
