Post this in the '1-Table Tournament' section, as many of the top SNG players post there and have some great advice/information about this very thing.

But the short answer: Yes, there is money to be made by playing only SNGs. It just depends on your strengths.

A very good SNG player can make about 1/2 the entry fee per hour. Probably less once you get to the $50s and above.

Its much harder to play multiple SNGs than it is to play multiple tables of cash games so I really doubt that you could make more playing SNGs than you could playing cash games. But yes of course you can make money just playing SNGs.

A very good S&G player can make upwards of 3 entry fees per S&G, playing 4 to 8 at a time, with each taking less than an hour.

As suggested, there is a wealth of information in the 1-Table forum. Some quick observations:

1. Many people earn their livings playing SnGs.

2. SnGs are completely different from ring games. You need a totally different set of strategies to play SnGs.

3. SnGs have a lot lower variance than ring games, so it is possible to make more money with a given bankroll at SnGs than at ring games.

No. If it was possible, there would be a forum dedicated to Single Table Tournaments (STT's), and people would post in there about ways to make money playing just Sit and Go's, just those.

IIRC, he said he built his bankroll through limit and the 6-max stuff. Then he started raping the $200 SNG's. 8-tabling, the whatnot.

In my opinion, unless you're 8-tabling or more at some high money levels, I wouldn't recommend SNG's as a moneymaker. If they're your thing, go for it.

Re: Can money be made just playing sit and go\'s?

For me it has been easier.

I never got a really high winrate playing limit. I was winning but always in the 1-2bb/hr/100 range over any 100,000 hand period. SNGs I have won at nice roi rates over many thousands of tournies. I have been disappointed with my limit results but happy with my SnG results. I am not 100% why the difference is there but I just feel more comfortable and attentive in the tournies.

TOurnies are all about adjustments. Your strategy is forced to change dramatically in a SnG over just a few minutes. If you can make those adjustments playing SnGs can be fun and profitable.

Lots of good advice in the STT forum. Lots of bad advice too. Just like all these. Haha. Good luck.
