My first post...Plus a 30-60 hand

Well let's get right to the hand (no hand history, sorry).

30-60 5 handed game, pretty loose and pretty passive. Opponent in this hand represents the table pretty well. Poker tracker stats are 50 vpip, 5 pfr, .75AF over ~50 hands. I don't remember the other time I played against him but from what I've seen, those look pretty reasonable. He limps a lot including after a limper with AK and check-called the whole way with top pair. The only "tricky" thing he's done is slowplay a flopped (Q-high) flush to the river.

Anyways, he's utg and raises. Folded to me in the BB and I call with A8o. In retrospect I don't much like this call (easy fold?).

Flop's AxTh8h, I have no heart. (4.5SB)

I check-raise the flop and he calls.

Turn's a Qd. (4BB)

I bet, he calls.

River's a 9x. (6BB)

I...(bet/fold? check/call? check/fold? bet/call?)

Comments on the river and other streets welcome.

Thanks,

Steve

pfr 5. fold A8o pf to his utg raise.

given he calls and calls i bet here, he may have a worse two pair, some of the time he calls you lose but i bet you win more than 60% when he calls.

if he raises given his AF, you fold

Preflop: These hands do not play well against a legetimate raise.

Bet for value on the river and probably fold if raised.

I'd fold this by default against a random opponent...this guy's raise should terrify you.

Ok, so we've established the preflop call is awful. I'm pretty sure I knew this right after I hit call and realized there are just about zero flops I'm going to like much.

Maybe I overthought the river play but it seems to me there's very little I beat by the river that he'll call with...really just KK and AK. Since he MAY 3-bet the flop with AK (hard to say b/c he's so passive) that should be discounted a bit. When he calls the turn, I'd say he can have KK, JJ, AK, AJ, A9, maybe 99 and that's about it (unless he's slowplaying to the river which is pretty unlikely too). I also doubt he'd bluff the river. Like virtually never. I decided afterwards I liked check-fold the best. Anybody else or am I giving him too much credit after too few hands?

Steve

RESULTS

I did check (planning to try to fold then talk myself into calling), he checked it through and my hand was good. No hh so I don't know what he had.
