Chasing 2-Pair (mid-high stakes)

I have a question about when to chase to a 2-pair. Is there any situation where chasing a 2 pair would be correct? The flop would definitely matter but how about when you put your opponent on a overpair against your top pair. I know that your way dominated if someone has a set but most of the time someone just made two pair on the flop while you have TPTK.

Can anyone give me more insight on this. The only reason why players don't recommend chasing 2 pair is because you can hit it and still lose to a set of a higher second pair. Lots of times however, you'll have enough pot odds to chase. How big would the pot be to correctly chase 2 pair?

If you can't figure out the answer to this, you should not be playing mid-high stakes. Unless, of course, your definition of "mid-high stakes" is a $25 buyin game..
