Pre-Flop reraising?
 

When do you reraise pre-flop? Not counting short stack situations. I think I have a leak here. The only time I seem to do it is with AA or KK or when restealing an obvious steal. I will also occassionally do it with QQ or AK but virtually nothing else unless it is what I consider a resteal to an obvious steal where any 2'll do.

So under normal conditions I typically only reraise preflop with AA or KK. This seems wrong? Others may pick up on it if I don't throw some other hands in there. I'm thinking something like mid suited connectors or middle pairs may be good to ocassionally mix it up with. Is this a good thought?

And are others preflop reraising primarily with similar holdings (AA, AK, KK, QQ) or are they mixing it up more? How much respect do you give a preflop reraiser? Do you always reraise raisers preflop with AA or KK?

It just seems to me I'm playing these (AA and KK) too predictably in an already raised pot preflop.

If you play online, I wouldnt really worry about the deception you add by reraising with garbage hands. You are rarely at a table long enough to make it worth while.

That being said, I thik AA-KK is way too tight.

What do you reraise with then preflop? The pot has already been raised by someone in worse position. The GAP effect comes into play here. What's a good reraising hand? I typically fold AJ and often AQ to early position raises. It's real easy to get in trouble here I think. I try to save my aggression for the proper situations and opportunities which I don't consider to be the case with an EP raiser unless I have the cards (ie AA, KK) to overcome it.

Online it's much more difficult to make good reads and you are
rarely at a table long enough to worry about this. But you
should be reraising what you think are steals or semisteals
with any pocket pair, big Aces, two paints, or sometimes any
two cards if you think the player will fold. In a live tourney
I will sometimes reraise certain players without even looking
at my cards based on my reads. You have to open your game up.

TT-AA, AK and AQs would be a good way to open up your re-raising standards

It really depends on the player. But I'll give you a hypothetical. I am in the SB, someone new to my table, opens a pot with a standard raise from middle-late position. I will reraise with AJs-AQo, 99+, plus a hand like 76s, every once in a while (but usually when I have a handle on the player).

I'm talking about ep raisers when you are in lp.

I thought I covered this in op and I'll do this with any two if I feel it is really a steal.

If someone before MP raises what are your reraising standards?

An early position raiser, I will put him on a hand, unless he is short stacked and unless I have a premium hand I will not reraise. It's a lot easier to pick up a pot when you raise first. I see a few players (name ones) who routinely will reraise with any pocket pair from the back. When they are called they are often in bad shape or it's a coin flip. One such guy was on Card Player's cover last year. With his
playing style, yea he might win a tournament or two, but it
might be ten years till he wins another one. Way too much volatitility for me.
