Time to Gamble?
Down to the final two tables of a NL tournament that pays top 4. Blinds 300-500, I am in the BB with 2200 after posting the 500 and receive a stellar 9h4d. Oddly, 3 people limp to me, the SB completes, and I check.
Flop: 6d 4s 3d SB checks. Is it time to Gambool and go all in? Everyone remaining in the hand has me covered. |
Re: Time to Gamble?
If you check and somebody else bets, you'll typically need to call. About the only time you can safely fold is when two people put money in the pot before it gets back to you, especially a bet and a raise. If it's simply one bet and a series of folds, you should probably call.
So, instead, bet right out, and hope they all fold. With any luck they will, or at least you'll be facing one hand as a slight favorite or a slight dog. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

Listen, a pair of fours is usually a huge hand in this position. You should jam for value and expect to be called. And just in case someone has you beat, you have the diamonds for redrawing.

Arm the Gambooling cannons..
.. and fire away.
That's a hideous looking board, certainly scary enough to get a better 4 to fold, or maybe more. Bet it out and hope either for the pot or someone to play sheriff with ace high. M. |
