Did I play this hand too aggressively? Is this a bad beat or a bad beating?

Re: First Hand Post

i call the river bet, since 4 to a straight are on the board. sucks.

Re: First Hand Post

I didn't realize there was a four straight on the board at the time, was suffering bad beats all night and was close to going on tilt (if was not already in this hand). On the bright side, considering that I had 1 AA, 1KK, and 3QQ busted in two hours, it is probably not too bad that I lost only 5BB tonight. Can't win every night I guess.

i know what you mean. whenever i'm in a slump and i limp in with small PP and hit my set it's always on a straight board or a flush board, thus i either lose a lot or win very little. sucks, but fight through it. gotta read the board closely my man.

Just call the river bet, otherwise you played it well.

Go for overcalls on the river.

I find I usually win a huge pot on coordinated boards like this when I hit my boat which happens a 3rd of the time.

What's the lowest pocket pair you guys will raise preflop in this position?

just call on the river.

Re: First Hand Post

There's only 3 callers ahead of us, so probably 9's.

Results in white:

I show a set of 7's
UTG shows a set of 8's
MP2 had 9 T, so he had the straight on the flop. He took down 25.25BB

I'm raising pf. You might buy the button and possibly a free look a the turn. If you don't buy the button you've got a value raise.

You can't raise that river with a 4-to-a-str8 on the board and MP-2 waking up. I'm stunned he didn't reraise.
