AJ vs minraise

This is a 15+1 on Stars. Is this too weak tight or am I on the right track?

You only have to call 150 into a 950 pot and your call closes the betting? I think it's a call.

Button will be all in on the flop regardless of what comes down. The only reason to minraise here (especially with his small stack) would be to keep you in the hand, so I'd guess he has a big pair. I like the fold.

I'm really interested to see what some of the more experienced players would do here because I really don't know. My inclination is to call since its only 200 more and be prepared to get your chips in the middle if you hit or drop it if you miss. If you make a pair of jacks and he has KK you aren't quite getting odds to call his push on the flop, but its close. I don't know though, maybe the possibility that he has AA tips the odds towards a fold

You could do the classic stop and go here, lots of chips in already, push any flop, especially a low flop.

Re: AJ vs minraise

KK or QQ is much more likely than AA -- there are 24 possible KK or QQ hands left, and only 6 possible AA hands (since you've taken one of the As). Given that you have him covered by 1600 chips, I think it's worth taking a risk here. Call the bet. Push if an Ace hits the flop, or 2 jacks, or KQT, etc.

I was thinking that you had the odds to push preflop, but I don't think you do. It would cost you 700 chips to put the button all in. 700 chips to win 1650 chips is about 2.2:1; Most hands that would bet like this have you beat by more than that (AA, KK, QQ).

That was my thought exactly, and I figured I had more than enough chips to keep playing and find a better spot.

jcm nailed it, the pot odds are to great to not give it a peak. Obivously not playing if I hit my A or better.

Other than pot odds I don't want to dilute my table image. Most would view folding to a min-raise that small as weak and that I am raising trash making them more likely to call future blind steals. What little FE i might lose in calling and folding on the flop I gain with table image.

When you look at it from a table image perspective, this makes a call a LOT more attractive. I'm thinking I don't take image into account as often as I should. Great point swarm.

I think you're giving up a lot here if you fold a J-rag flop. I'll try to work out the math on this problem this evening when I'm not in class, unless someone beats me to it.
