how to make a carrying case.

I need to make a carrying case for my chips. I started off with 500, that came in a case, but now have over 1000 chips. Does anyone know how to make a good case with supplies I can get at any home depot or other chain stores?? I don't like to order online as I live in Canada and a lot of times shipping + customs and tarrifs make even cheap purchases a little pricey.

I have a 700chip case that I like and use, but the handle's starting to go. Well, not "go", but certainly "bend". It makes me nervous; even a small chance of crashing to the floor makes this case -EV.

(The reason this is on-topic is,) I was thinking about making a shoulder strap. I need to rig something to wrap around the case securely, and then extend to a shoulder strap, but also come-off easily enough to get at my chips.

Anybody have any experience with this?

What I did for my 1000 chips is get an aluminum tool case at harbor freight for about $20 or so. I put the chips in racks and stack them in the case.

I don't see the one I got on harbour freight anymore but it is similar to THIS ONE.

I use a second hand photographer's case...

... bought for $5 at a consignment shop.

As for adding a strap I'd think you could bolt on some small triangle clamps and use any old strap with hooks/clasps. Lost my travel hanging bag shoulder strap recently and had to use one off an old duffle bag... not pleasing to the eye but worked great.

Great minds think alike that is almost exactly what mine looks like. Works great for me.
