Party $200 PL game: Out of position vs solid player
 

Villian is pretty solid, somewhat aggressive, haven't seen him get out of line. Not sure if it helps (i'm new to NL, and can't interpret pt stats like I could in limit), but his PT numbers are 34/4/2.5/75 hands
Advice/comments on any street would be appreciated - especially river, I felt I couldn't get a value bet (KJ or better A beats me, an agro heart draw folds) but did I give him a chance to push me out of the pot?

Oh sorry, like I said I'm new to NL and PL, what is the cutoff for mid to small stakes?

I felt he was going to bet the turn (with his aggression and position on me), and would have trouble putting me on an ace so I could get more out of him than just leading.

You should value bet this river, perhaps $30 and fold to a raise, most likely he has a good J.

or aces up, or missed flush. bet the river, 20-40.

Why would he flat call thre flop with a good Jack? The only hand that I can see that makes any sense given the villians line is T9/89/T8 of Hearts. The turn bet could be purely becaue he sesnsed weakness from the hero.

I think that this is NOT a time to value bet. This is a $1-$2 table with people who limp with Ax all the time. When that Ace hits on the turn, I think there is a strong chance he's betting and calling your raise because he's just hit top pair with a mediocre kicker, as you have. If you bet the river you can't beat A7 through AA, pocket 2s, pocket 7s, pocket jacks. So when we ask the question: What hands will call you that you beat?, the answer is, fewer than beat you.

If someone can explain to me in detail why this is a bet on the river, I'm always eager to learn.

I bet the river because I (hero) showed so much strength on the turn, although I think check calling or check folding is just as good if not better.

He only has 1 or two pair on the turn, and I think he only bet because you checked, but by calling your turn raise he prob has a J, 2 pair, or a heart draw.

I don't understand. Why on the turn would you not give the villan credit for an A?

If I've just raise on the turn and get called, I've got to think there is a pretty good chance I'm getting called with an A, maybe two pair.

Then some have suggested putting in about a $30 bet on the end. But that gives the villan around 3:1 to make that call with an Ax and outkick you. If you are called with another ace, you are are not winning, so where is the value?
