Best Heads Up Game

The best heads up game is...draw poker. Because each hand is independent each player has a hand he can bet/call with.

what about 5-stud? lowest luck factor and great bluffing opportunities.

Triple Draw, or Chinese Poker.

I am a big 5-stud fan but in terms of heads up playability it is a poor game as an Ace door card is just too big a hill to climb and good players will not even attempt to climb that hill.

I think I'll agree with Al with draw being the best heads-up game (I am biased to draw). I think all draw variants wokr well HU: draw for high, triple draw, and lowball (single draw) as well. I've never played no-limit 2-7, but I bet that's a good and scary HU game.

5-stud is going to be poor HU with reasonable players that won't chase when obviously way behind.

As much as I love split pot games like Omaha/8 and Stud/8, they are usually tedious to play HU. The final 2 in SNGs for split pot games is usually shove and pray when the blinds are big (think Party Poker) and monotonous if the blinds are smaller. The longest HU battle of my life in a tournament was in a freaking Stud/8 FREEROLL I played a few years ago. Almost an hour heads-up before I finally won an extra few bucks (it was mostly just my competitive desire that kept me going).

I'm not the biggest holdem fan, but I think that holdem works fairly well as a HU game (more so than stud or Omaha).
