For El Diablo

Diablo's thread about not getting paid off after turn checkraises inspired me to bluff checkraise a turn....

Villian is straightforward...I have a pretty aggressive table image, due to the fact I've had quite a few good hands since I sat down 20 minutes ago...I haven't shown down any hands yet though, so I may look laggy to villian

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Turn: ($49) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO bets $11, Hero raises to $22, MP2 folds,

My plan if he raises is to fold, and if he calls, to fire a decent sized bet on the river, probably 2/3 the pot

If you're gonna try this move, I'd try it for quite a bit more than a minraise of a way underbet.

You don't have to worry about turn check-raises with big hands NOT getting paid off here...

Re: For El Diablo

I was thinking that he would be scared of my min raise, since I'd been very aggressive so far, and usually when an aggro min-raises it suggests a big hand, doesn't it??

That is why I made a medium sized "pay me off" bet on the river as well, (60 into about a 90 dollar pot)

He folded, so it worked out, but I don't want to be results oriented, so does anyone see any sense in my thought process at all??

theres a real good chance you just pushed him off a worse hand, what exactly do you think he will fold. I doubt he folds a good queen, but maybe he folds an underpair.

Is taking it down here with the current best hand really all that bad?

Re: For El Diablo

say you and I play an identical session. we get the exact same cards, play the exact same opponents, etc. assume we both play well and bluff correctly and our value bets and bluffs always have a positive expected value. let's assume the aside from one thing, you and I always bet the same amounts and play our hands exactly the same. the only difference in our game is that my raises are potsized, and your raises are for the minimum. who wins more money?

Re: For El Diablo

A worse hand than I have??

Obviously THAT'S no good...haha

He claimed to have jacks....He severely underbet the flop and turn, so I was pretty sure he was scared of the queen, and I decided a minraise river lead was the best way to push him off an underpair...I guess if he has AK i'm pricing him in to draw to a pair, which he for sure isn't folding if it hits....so in that scenario my line is pretty bad

I'm pretty new to NL, and I suck right now, but I really want to learn, and I don't want to just nut peddle, and I don't mind doing stupid stuff if it'll make me better in the long run....

What other types of lines do you like for this hand?? check-call? check-fold? fold the flop? lead the turn??

Help!
