as he suggested... i think i've been loosing money by raising people off hands that they'd continue with... i need to think about these raises that i make routinuely against fish that will call down when faced with thinking opponents

If shill has taught me nothing else, it's that you have to call this turn.

Yeah but there are some reasons to raise against a thinking player here. If I were the villian in the hand and I knew you were a 2+2er, I would call down the raise with a hand like KK or QQ KNOWING that you don't have an ace when you raise the turn. So against someone who expects you to call with an ace, it might actually be correct to raise with an ace. This is why poker is so complex and after you get to a certain level of thinking it becomes a game of "[censored] this guy, I'm just calling him down." Against a player who isn't thinking about what you think he is thinking, you should just call the turn though.

Edit - It is very important that people understand this concept. If you have questions about why you should just call the turn, feel free to ask.

I've yet to see a fully understandable reason to call this turn. I'm sure it's right, but please elaborate. Thanks.

I had QQ here and folded to his turn raise. I told him the raise sucked because I was either going to fold, 3-bet him, or call and check raise him on the river for fun. The thing about bluff raising this turn without the Ace is that you're risking 2 BB in hopes that I fold, when it is VERY likely that I have hit that ace (with AQs or AK).
