When he caps it preflop and the K falls on the flop, I'm going with the assumption that MP1 is far ahead of me here. Therefore, you have two real options after the flop goes down the way it does: Bet the turn (fold to a c/r) & check through the river if you're not convinced or believe that he might fold QQ to your turn bet, or check through the turn & fold to a river bet if you are convinced.

By calling the bet on the river you're basically gambling that villian capped preflop with AQ or TT (or worse) 1 in 10 times. I don't think that's happening even on a short-handed table, especially on 2/4.

After betting the flop, I believe you should bet the turn and represent the K. It's better to bet the turn than call the river.
Your opponent will likely do two things if you bet the turn: fold right then, or call and check the river. You can then also check the river. If you get raised, you can safely fold.

I'd rather bet the turn and take a free showdown at the river than checking the turn. Giving free cards to and A or Q sucks.

Re: JJ Play With an King on Board

Yeah I just plained played this hand badly. Betting the turn and checking behind on the river is probably superior to checking the turn and calling a river bet. I think I was thinking that I could check the turn to avoid a check/raise and induce a bluff from a worse hand on the river. But the hands MP1 could be playing doesn't make that right.

Anyways MP1 shows ATo and MHIG. I make the appropiate notes.

You don't think he'll cap to the resteal/isolation punishment with a larger range of hands than normal?

Re: JJ Play With an King on Board

If he's folding on the turn to your bet, then you miss the bluff bet on the river.

Re: JJ Play With an King on Board

And you give a free card, miss a value bet against worse hands, and give villain no chance of folding a better hand.

No better hand is folding here.
