30+3 Short Handed MTT first round KQs
 

First round I have about T1400 on the Button with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Blinds are T10/20, game is 6 handed. Main Villain is CO with a little over T1500.

3 limpers to me, I raise to T65. Blinds fold UTG calls, UTG+1 folds CO calls.

Flop: (Pot=245)
K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Checks to me I bet T 125. UTG folds CO Calls

Turn: (Pot=495)
(K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

CO checks I bet T250, CO Calls

River (Pot= T995)

i'd make it 80 preflop and bet 180 on the flop and 350 on the river. but i basically like it.

I don't like raising that early in the tour with KQs. If I'm raising to shorten the field, it's not going to be very effective because limits are low and implied odds are high. And Early in a tour. after two limps, KQs isn't very strong in my mind. Plus on the flop the raised pot makes it to easy to get involved because of the size of the pot when my stack really can't stand much fluxuation.
Having said that, I like the the rest of the play.

Normally I would agree. I do play more aggressively 6 handed so hands like KQs go up in value in my mind especially on the button.

At any rate villain shows A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I get knocked out. Guess theres not much I could do there except play passivly which is -EV in the long run as far as im concerned. I left thinking my play was fine and still feel that way I just hate getting knocked out like that or overplaying a strong hand getting called by a draw and getting sucked out on... Seems to happen too much.

Make it a bit more on each street (80 pf, on flop/turn i usually bet 2/3 to 3/4 of the pot). Other than that, well played.
