Sometimes there is a moral argument against the existence of God. The argument says there's just way too much evil in the world for a deity to have created it all for us to deal with (we could learn the same life lessons with significantly less evil, I think). Of course, the excluded alternative is that the deity gets a kick out of our suffering.

Nietzsche speculated that smiling is disapproved of in tribal cultures because it might anger the Gods. The tribe itself understands the pleasure that comes from inflicting cruelty (on other tribes), and believes it would be a mistake to deprive God of this same pleasure.

God is a Sadist

That's what Al Pacino says in "Devil's Advocate". He's a tight-ass, a Deadbeat Dad, an absentee landlord.

Aside from having a hard time believing that God exists at all, is the difficulty getting over the notion that this Supreme Being notices or cares what happens to the fate of humans.

Maybe out of sheer boredom he created mankind and once he realized that the new expiriment wasn't as cool as he hoped he didn't have the heart to un-create his children. So he sets them on a distant planet and lets them go unchecked. All the time the people still worship him and believe that one day, given enough blessings and good deeds, he might come back and fix things.

That goes beyond faith and into the realm of fantasy.

As I said in another post, you cannot prove that God does or doesn't exist because believe in him is an act of faith thus do not follow the scientific way : the logical way.

The poor ( and not appropriate IMO) way for the Church to prove that God exist is like :

-Everything is in harmony in nature, thus God exist ( d'uh..)

and so long.

I really don'T see the point of trying to prove that God exist.
