I hate how I played this hand

This hand sucked. Please tell me what _you_ would do differently.

Live 9/18, Commerce Casino.

UTG limps, UTG+1 TAGgy regular raises, I 3-bet from cutoff with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Both call, 3 to the flop.

Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG checks, regular bets out. I call, UTG goes away.

Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villain bets. I call.

River: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Villain checks. I check.

Results later, your thoughts now...

I would say raise the flop, bet the turn if he checks. Then check/fold the river when you miss, although hopefully you get a free showdown here. If he checkraises the turn or 3bets the flop that sucks, you still should call till you miss the river, then fold the river.

I think you played this hand perfectly. You don't want to raise the turn because you obviously have to call if it is 3bet. A raise on the flop would be fine if you think it could get you to the river for free, but I don't really like that line against intelligent players.

I can't believe that I didn't fight a little harder for this one. Thanks for your help, I agree a raise on the flop would have made this hand a little easier to play.

This is the most interesting part of your post. What do you think about TAG's leading out here? A lot may depend on your image to him, but I like this play because of the paired flop.

As for your play, I think calling the flop is OK, but its better to raise and hope for the free card on the turn.

On the turn, a raise here is better than calling because you could win the pot, plus you have about tons of outs. Knowing what you know, he would have folded to your raise on the turn.

Re: I hate how I played this hand

I believe I had an overtight image to this TAG - this was a result of having been running badly the last couple hours, and also having to check-fold some really bad flops after raising pre-flop.

This no doubt contributed to her decision to lead out, I believe she probably thought she would win the pot immediately if I didn't have a K.

I should have raised on the flop. If I didn't raise the flop I should have raised the turn. And, if I didn't raise the turn I should have bet the river after it was checked to me, since my hand could be interpreted as a trapping AK and I don't need to get a fold often at all for this to be profitable.
