Moving up to $10-20-Prerequisite BB/100 in $5-10 6MAX??

To the players that have played alot of hands(100K+)at $5-10 6MAX done well and moved up to $10-20 6MAX and also done well at that level(w/at least 50K hands) what do you think a reasonable bb/100 figure should be in $5-10 6MAX before moving up.

What would you advise players that have bb/100 figures in the following ranges:Should they stay or should they go??

~1.00 bb/100
1.00-1.50bb/100
1.50-2.00bb/100
2.00-2.50bb/100
2.50+bb/100

I assume advice will be for players below 1.50bb/100 to not even think about moving up.Should you have a solid 2.00+bb/100 before even thinking about moving to the $10-20 or is that too rigid of a guideline??

At least between 2 and 2.5.

No I havent played 50k hands at either level.

I haven't got the number of hands you want either....

I reckon you want to be around the 2 mark or better, but this is not the only concern:

1) Do you have the bankroll? I'm only happy with 1000BB now, but I think you could start with 300 if you were happy to move back down if things don't go to plan.

2) Are you psychologically prepared for the variance? If 5/10 swings affect your play, then your probably not ready.

+2BB/100. There are better players at 10/20 so your winrate will be lower. And when winrate goes down, lets say below 1BB/100, you will experience huge swings, lets say +500BB.

1.75 BB/100, can you take that seriously? You could be a 3 BB/100 winner or breaking even. When you feel like your game is good enough, take a 1K stab. You should be able to tell if your being outplayed at the new limit. I think win-rate requirements for moving up are rediculous since they are so unreliable. I value my intuitive feelings about a limit much more than win rate.

Re: Moving up to $10-20-Prerequisite BB/100 in $5-10 6MAX??

ahhh I play large blocks of hands there krishan.I 3-6 table $5-10 6MAX right now for abour 2000 hands a day.I would not move up until I had at minimum 100K hands at $5-10 6MAX at my current rate thats in another 5 weeks.I'm in no hurry and I'd rather just put in a solid sample then move up.
The real question is should I be 2 or 3 tabling rather than 4-5-6 tabling?I know playing more than 3 tables is taking my winrate down.

I disagree with both of you guys. For me the truth is in the numbers.I like moving up after having large samples in any game 100K/200K hands for whatever reason its been working for me.I've made alot of money over the last few years slowly moving up at a measured pace. But truth is sometimes that pace has been too slow and it has cost me big money so there is some validity to what you say.

I'm very methodical thu.I've been playing for a living B&M a year and a half and online 2 1/2 years.I've always been content to make $40K-$55K a year which I know sucks and only in the last year have I started to push myself-looking to do 100K+ this year.I'm not a great player but I'm a good gambler and I work around my limitations well.

For me this is bs.I take the opposite tack which is to work off what the numbers tell me.The numbers if you play any type of sample 50K /100K will blow away any hopeful"intuitive" projections you may make in my opinion..could just be me thu because it's the habitual way I've always moved up but truth is I'm probably too cautious.

You ask for advice then disagree with what people offer you? At least attempt to be open to the idea that winrate should not be your only gauge for moving up. A 100K sample size can give you a solid number, but you still may be a much better player than when you began, thus earning at a higher rate than your 100K number tells you. I don't know what this is called in statistical terms...someone else could help you there.

I think though that others are trying to help you by saying that a thorough and continual evaluation of your game is what really ought to lead you to decide what limit is best for you. The truth is in your skills.
