Rebuy/add-on Strategy for WPT Sat.
 

Thinking of entering a sat. for the Reno WPT event this weekend. Here is the format:

-100+20 buy-in
-start with $200 in chips
-20 minute levels
-Players may rebuy any time they have 200 or less for the first 3 levels
-Players may make a single or double add-on at the end of level 3 regardless of chip count...add-ons cost 100...players recieve 200 in chips for each add-on.

Blinds start at 5-10...by level 5 they are 50-1000...by level 10 they are 500-1000.

What do you guys feel the best strategy would be in regard to re-buys and add-ons. With such a small amount of starting chips, especially considering the blind structure (by level 7 the bb is = to the buy in), is it worth getting both the add-ons?

If you are better than the field, then doing the rebuy immediately and taking the addon is correct.

Based upon all of the information you gave, I think the best strategy is to just try to stay in the fairway and hit greens in regulation, because you really ought to play golf instead, IMHO.

Yeah...I thought that this format looked pretty shakey when I first saw it...seems pretty much like a crapshoot. I'll check on the format of the 500 sats...hopefully they are better.
