Strange raise - what to do?

Party NL 400. Full table.
I have about 375 and villainīs got me covered. No reads just sat down an orbit ago.

I have 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button 2 callers in MP before me and I limp in. Sb completes - 5 to the flop.

Flop: (pot 20)

A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Villain bets 10, MP calls I raise to 30.
This is where it get strange )
Villains pushes about 500 into the pot?????
MP folds - hero... ????

Iīll post thoughts/results later.

Sorry but the manual HH - cant do it otherwise.
Thx in advance.

You are either way ahead or way behind here. I play 50NL so it's an easy call against the average player, but I can't comment on the average 400NL player. Unless you have seen this kind of play with middle or top set before, I would call.

By the way, you are in very little jeopardy of someone outdrawing you on the turn. Therefore I would just call the flop.

I suppose it depends on certain factors such as bankroll, etc. I would have to call thinking he has either big slick or caught two pair and wants to shut you out right there. Flopping bottom set, i would have to call and hope. [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Bank roll is not an issue.

I call this every time and twice on Sunday unless I have a read on the player that confirms he's got a better set.

If you can't call this raise never never play small pairs.

Agreed. I'd bet you are up against A/7 and or A/K.

A7s ....

He probably got busted slow playing two pair the night before and thinks he might get a awful call by someone.

Little does he know....what lurks.

Hi all - thx for the replies.

As most people have indicated, Iīm most likely up against two pair grossly overplayed (or TPTK), which was what I was thinking at the time.
The massive overbet just got me a bit baffled

But anyways - I called he flipped A7o and turned a 7
