WSOP Non-Main Events
 

Did anyone here play in a few of these last year? I'm thinking about flying out to Vegas and staying a week or so to play 3-4 of these events. How tough are the games in these events? I'm assuming they are tougher than the main event due to the lack of satellite players, but maybe there is still some dead money in these games somehow? How much tougher would one of these events be as opposed to say one of the nightly $100+9 or $150+12 multis on stars. Any advice/information would be very helpful.

i believe there are still satellites for these tourneys, but on-site satellites. not online ones.

i may be wrong though

Bump, maybe some of the 200+15 players who will be checking the board now might have some experience here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plenty of non-professionals take their shots in the sub-events at the WSOP. They're affordable for most and last year they drew really nice sized fields making for nice payouts. Sounds like a good plan Metnut. Go for it.

I'm thinking of going out for the opening weekend, there are $1,500 buy in NL, pot limit and limit hold'em events scheduled. I think the low buy in and weekend dates will bring a lot of casual players out (like me).

There's another thread here about this - I posted that I'm in Event #2, the $1,500 NL one.. won through a local satellite here in Detroit...

If I bust, I might buy into #3 ($1,500 PL)

Sounds good, seems like a better way to take a shot than just trying to qualify to the main event. Hopefully it won't just be all pros.

i'm planning on playing in at least one of the 1k 1-day NLHE tourneys that go on during the main event.

Can anyone give advice about how long these one-day events last?

I'm combining Event #9 ($2000 NLHE) with a Vegas trip with the wife and friends. Event #9 is the day that everyone else is coming into town; I'm arriving the day before. If I do really well, like in the money or final table (thinking on the positive side), what is my time commitment?

From reading various posts here and internet articles/blogs, I get the sense that a "one-day" event can actually be 14+ hours of play on the first day (noon start until 2am the next day), followed by the final table on the second day that can last for many hours (6-7) depending on starting stack sizes at the final table, tight/lose play, and all the usual variables. Of course, if I crap out in the first few hours, this is not a concern...

Any advice is appreciated. Don't want to risk half of the vacation on this "one-day" event (actually, I wouldn't mind, but others involved will...).

event 9 is actually listed as 2-day. from poker pages

if you make the final table, you'll have won many 000's of $. just give 'em each 10 bucks to stop their bitching.
