I am going to be in AC for about a week (Monday to Thursday) entertaining clients the middle of April and wanted to slip away and play a live tournament for the first time. What can I expect from the midweek tourney lineup? Number of entries, player types, any hints. What is the best night between Mon, Tues or Weds? What time do I need to be at the pokerroom to assure that I get a seat?

tues and weds will draw about 200 monday around 100 i beleive all the tourneys have the same structure 5000 starting chips but blinds do go up fairly quickly. is not a bad format especially if you can get some chips early. they dont limit resgistration. so you can get in as long as you get there by end of first level.

t5000 chips, blinds raise every 20 minutes, antes start at 3rd level. anywhere from 230 to over 300 players. pay top 27. players range anywhere from college guys to local pros. ive sat with varkonyi(2002 champ) and a guy named frangos(3 final tables and one of the best at the taj) during the weekly tournys. more players during summer, oviously. most last to around 2am or so and usually chop the last few people. good luck, have fun and raise or fold.
