A classic case for check-raise?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (8 handed) converter

MP1 ($27.45)
MP2 ($45.8)
CO ($27.4)
Button ($30.6)
Hero ($27.05)
BB ($19.05)
UTG ($27.3)
UTG+1 ($26.65)

Preflop: Hero is SB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.1.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.25, MP1 calls $0.25, MP2 calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (6 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets $1.5, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Hero raises to $5, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $3.50.

Turn: ($11.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $10, UTG+1 folds.

Final Pot: $21.50

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins $21.50.

This guy has been seeing 50% of the flops and pre-flop raising 38% so it is hard to figure him on anything.

Should I have check-raised the turn or is there some fear of the free card? Also, surely this is the time to get some money in the pot before he sees the river and gets out.

How about smooth-calling the flop and check-raising the turn?

One of the few cases where I think you can afford to bet weaker at the turn to try and get a call....like 5 bucks maybe. I mean there isnt a draw out there im afraid of considering the flop. If he has an overpair and catches well thats poker....

I'd probably check/call the flop and check/raise the turn. Your play isn't awful either, though.

I really doubt he limps with JJ or above. If he does, he's still huge dog. Same with underpair. If he hits, you go broke.

The only thing I don't like about that is that if he does have an over-pair then I am letting him out-draw me on the cheap.

Nah it's 22-1 against him catching. If he calls a bet for half the pot, he's making a mistake. If you could see his cards and knew he had AA after the flop, would you want him folding or calling more bets?

I want him calling, all-in if possible.

It's highly unlikely that you will get outdrawn. Once again, I doubt he's limping with JJ or above. A check-raise is fine if you're sure he'll bet. Worst case scenario is him taking a free card, and even then him catching up to best hand is very unlikely.

Absolutely.
But surely then I do not want to just smooth call the flop. I am not really getting enough payment.
To take your example of the Aces I would want a bit more from him in order to see the turn.

There is a common misconception about playing against lags that goes like this:

"I'll wait for a hand and then play back at him and see how he likes it"

this costs you huge money long term.
