can you ship a mattress with UPS/fedex?

nobody answers the phones on sundays so i thought you guys could help me out. i have a mattress that needs to go from california to new jersey. can i have UPS/fedex pick it up and deliver it for less than a new mattress costs? any other way to get it across for a reasonable price?

I doubt they will handle a package that big. You will have to ship freight. Yellow, CCX, PJAX, Overnight, etc. Probably cost a few hundred.

I looked into this when I moved from New Jersey to California last year. I deemed it possible (not with FedEx or UPS) but prohibitively expensive. So now I have a brand new queen size bed.

Being the board-resident UPS employee I can tell you that I have never seen a full mattress shipped by us. Baby crib mattresses all the time, but thats all I see. I think for a price they would ship just about anything though. But you're better off going with a normal oversize freight company, like Yellow or G.O.D. or whatever.
