QQ in the BB facing a raise and a caller

Stars $10 freezeout. 1200 entrants, 100 paid, ~110 left. Hero just lost a race and half his stack 2 hands earlier.

Relevent stacks

Hero 4900
SB 5050
UTG+2 13000

Blinds 200/400 with antes (50?)

Dealt to Hero

Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

2 folds, UTG+2 raises to 2000, some folds, SB calls. Hero ??

I wasn't too worried about UTG+2. His raise to 2000 was too large, and is often a hand like 99 or AJ that doesn't want to be called. I wasn't sure what to put the SB on, his call makes little sense unless he's planning a stop and go. Is there any case to be made for flat calling and pushing any aceless flop?

My thinking at the time was that if I push preflop, UTG+2 may re-raise and help me knock out the SB, though it appears he is most likely committed.

So, push all in preflop or just call then push? Is it close?

I would push here. SB looks committed and will probably call a reraise all in by UTG, but you have a great hand a tripling up will give you a great stack.

You could stop & go any non A or K flop but you could be left with 2900 in chips. I would just prefer to get all the money in.

You must either fold or push. You know exactly what is going to happen on the flop. He will bet out and you are nearly pot committed. If you do call be prepared to push the rest of your chips. I try to forsee what will happen on the next streets. If you think you have to put in your stack on the flop, you may as well make the move preflop.

Folding is an option. I would have to know a little something about my opponent. If he is a rock, your a coin flip at best.

Their most likely hands are an underpair and an ace, closely followed by two aces splitting outs - so get the chips in now.

I'm looking to triple up here and am pretty disappointed if I don't.

Push and hope. You do not have enough chips to stop and go. The flop bet will might not get an AK out. If you had a few more chips (say 6000) it would be wiser to stop and go because moving all-in gives AK a better chance of hitting and you no chance of getting away from the hand if an Ace or King flops.
