quick rules question
Looking for a response ASAP.
In a home NL hold em game, what are the raising rules? We always say minimum first raise must be at leat the big blind, but what about a re-raise? Does it have to be at least the size of the previous raise? Does it have to be at least the size of what has already been bet for the round? A quick response would be much appreciated. |

Re: quick rules question
scenario:
SB = 1 and BB = 2 preflop, the button bets 6 question: If BB wants to raise, he must raise by 6? question: same scenario post flop, what is the minimum bet? The BB (2) or the previous raise (6)? Thx. |

The BB (2) or the previous raise (6)? [/ QUOTE ] If BB wants to reraise he must make it 10 to go. He had bet 2 blind, the button made it 6... that's a raise of 4. BB must raise at least 4. He can raise 5 (or 4.01 if he likes). Minimum bet on any street in NLHE is the BB. Previous action has no effect. The minimum bet DOES NOT double on the turn and river, no matter what some drunk at your home game says. Yes, that last sentence is from personal experience edit: welcome to the forum, homegame... if you want a nice rulebook go to homepokertourney.com and print out his "Robert's Rules of Poker" booklet. It's the gold standard of rules and that website has packaged it in a great booklet format. |
