History of sit-n-go tournaments?

Does anybody know a good resource that details the birth and growth of single-table tournaments? I've found that Eric Drache is often credited with creating satellite tournaments during the early years of the World Series of Poker, and I wonder if this would be considered the official "creation" of sit-n-go tournaments.

Did online poker rooms really shape and perfect the set-up? Which was the first room to offer them?

Any and all help will be most appreciated.

Thanks...

I came 2nd in a sng promotion on Paradise for the 2002 WSOP just after they released NL SNG's there.

They had LHE SNG's for a long time before that, at least a year and possibly much longer.

Yeah. Paradise started with LHE SnG's. They were a fun new thing. I never even played HE, was a stud man, but did well in them cos I played tight early (cos I didn't know what I was doing) and bonkers short-handed (cos I didn't know what I was doing).
