cover from using a stragety card

is using a basic strategy card worth anything at all when it comes to making the casino think you are not counting?

not that i'm good enough at counting to +EV yet, but I do use a basic strategy card since i'm too lazy to remember some of the soft totals etc.

If you still need a strategy card, then it's unlikely you are close to being good at counting.

Strategy cards are allowed, serious counters don't them.

that's the point, i think. he was asking if the fact that serious counters don't use them would make carrying one a good cover tactic.

Re: cover from using a stragety card

I don’t play BJ or work in casinos anymore, so ... time to release another one of my goodies.

In my years as a BJ dealer and Pit Boss I saw hundreds of people using strategy cards, some with the cards sold in the gift shops and some homemade. I only saw a few people who actually made the play on the card every time. I used to call them on it in a joking / entertaining way – “You should have saved the money you spent on the card to make another bet” sort of thing.

In my years as a card counter I used to print up (hand print, in pre-computer days) the proper strategy for the game I was playing and put little tiny barely noticeable tick marks / dots around the inside of the boxes on the chart using a clock-like code to indicate the strategy variation index numbers. I often got told I was making mistakes.
