Blind Stealing: An optional practice???
 

After 20k hands on the party 15/30, I am at VPiP% 15.2, and PFR% 5.7. Many posters are as tight as me but they raise more pf, 8-9% maybe. I have realized that I don't steal blinds, my percent attempted stealing (from CO or BT) is 16%. My standards don't fall far below KTo,A9o, or 44. I wonder: How much I am giving up here? I should be happy to decrease my variance and refrain from blind stealing if it does not affect my bottom line by more than say 5-10%, but I have no ways of knowing what impact it would have. I need some advice here...

I'm too lazy right now to get into depth on this one...but yeah, you're giving up a lot by playing too tight like that.

I don't consider open raising KTo or any hand your going to play anyway in the CO or button blind stealing. You are simply raising what figures to be the best hand with good position for value. If the blinds fold, great. If they call, great. If they raise, crap.

The first prerequisite you need for blind stealing with hands like 57o for example is tight players in the blinds. So if there is a 2+2er in the BB, go ahead and steal. If its your favorite fish, forget about it. Its been my experience that most people like to defend, so I usually stick to value raising like yourself.

I would only recommend this against the 15/4 variety of 2+2ers. Trying to steal from a 21/12 with hands like 75o will be quite costly.
