when to move up
 

Played my first B&M on Monday for 7 hours had a blast and learned a lot and only lost $60. Went back on thurs. and played for 7 hours and won 220. How should I approach the subject of moving up in stakes? I currently play 3-6. I'm trying not to get to excited but I had so much fun applying the limit skills that I have learned from 2+2's books and this forum. After playing in a limit card game I can see that it is nothing like no-limit. So given the facts when should I consider moving up? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

The short answer is not for a long time. Wait until you're consistently beating the game and you have your 300 BBs for the next level.

I'm going to go a different route here. In many casinos, there is little difference between the levels. For example, the 3/6 will play more or less equally to the 2/4 and 6/12 (or 4/8, whatever).

The differences are table to table, not limit to limit. As such, if you see a juicy 6/12 game, and your bankroll is large enough that you can afford a loss, feel free to hop into the game.

Table selection is the most important part.

given the fact that you just said limit is nothing like no limit, i'll take it that you don't know that much about limit hold'em. before you even consider moving up one limit, you should play a lot of 3-6 and get a feel for the game. also, do you have a bankroll or are you just playing on spare cash? if you keep a bankroll and are wanting to move up to say, 6-12, wait until you get about 300-500 bb's for that game if you are wanting to play long term.

Play at the level you can afford to play. If your bankroll can sustain/justify a higher limit, then cut your teeth at that limit.

FWIW, 2 sessions in B&M games is absolutely nothing.
