personally, couldn't give a rats ass less as I don't really expect privacy in a casino anyways, per se,

but someone looking to rob a tourist/regular (should we call this "tackling a Raymer - LOL" - could use a RFID scanner to possibly determine who has the most chips in their pocket when they leave the secure area of the casino to go outside, up to their room, etc...

cash out before you leave the room boys.

RFID in chips is a good thing, nothing to be fearful of. This will allow casinos to track players better, which means things such as:

1) Comp systems may change to favor players who move lots of chips
2) Theft reduction
3) It will be nearly impossible to remove chips from a casino
4) Dealers will be tracked with great precision. Every chip removed or plced into the chip tray will be tracked, as well as tokes. This saves on a HUGE amount of support staff,and therefore savings which can be passed on to the customer (in theory of course)
5) Counterfitting will be nearly impossible

But don't worry, RFID includes a security system that hasn't been cracked (yet). There is currently no way for someone to use an RFID scanner to determine how many chips you have in our pocket unless they use machines provided by/for the casino.

In short, RFID chips are a good thing. The only bad thing is the chips look and feel like the Borgata Chips, and they suck.

5) There is even an application for NL & Pot Limit games. If a scanner is embedded under the table, any chips placed in the pot can be instantly counted and displayed on a screen. This will eventually make NL games much faster, which means a greater # of hands per hour.

why would it matter if you were to remove chips from a casino?
some players maight prefer to keep some of their roll in the form of chips...

Casino's would surely prefer you cash in all your chips before leaving. Outstanding chips are essentially "Accounts Payable" until they go through the process of taking the chips out of circulation.

Several years ago at a casino in Puerto Rico I remember seeing a sign next to the cage saying that chips "must be redeemed" before leaving the casino. I never saw that anywhere else, but I'm sure they'd prefer as few outstanding chips as possible, and a good accounting of the ones that are out there.

Chips cannot be removed from the casino in the state on New Jersey, as per Casino Control.

i really hope all the new chips to hit casinos dont look like the borgata chips. they so slippery i cant even shuffle well, nor can i count them out when i have to bet. do the borgata chips have this device in them, or do they merely look they way they do for aggrivation?

If they don't want the chips taken home, why do they make commemorative chips? I find it hard to believe that the casino would discourage anyone from paying $5 for a $0.80 chip.
