Re: lingo question

vpip% is the percentage of hands the BB voluntarily puts money in the pot with. in other words, he actually moves in chips with 58% of all hands he is dealt.

PFR% is the percentage of hands he raises with.

these abbreviations are used in a program called pokertracker ( http://www.pokertracker.com ). the program tracks all hands played online. you use the info to examine your own game, as well as access to information on your opponents. it basically makes it simpler to improve your game and to take meaningful notes on opponent play.

most 2+2 posters use it in conjunction with PlayerView ( http://www.playerview.net ). this program superimposes whatever p-tracker stat you want it to directly onto the table you are playing, giving real time information, thus allowing you to make plays you wouldn't necessarily want to make. for example, in your example where the BB has numbers like 58/25, i want to 3-bet him with hands i may fold to another player who has stats such as 18/4.

cheers!
