1/2 Live NL KK, Ace on Flop
 

1/2 NL Live. 10 person.

1 EP caller. Villain (only about 5 or so orbits in so far, seems TAG) raises to $15 from MP(standard raise for table). Hero reraises to $45 with KK. All fold back to villain who calls. Hero stack= $350. Villain has that covered.

Flop. (2 players) $95. A 9 4 rainbow
Villain checks. Hero checks.(?)

Turn. A 9 4 8 (2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]'s on board now)
Villain bets $50. Hero ??

You're live, you should have reads. Use them. Also, what are stack sizes? Any good player will punish you here with any 2 cards, so I'd tend to check/fold and move on.

Bet the flop: 2/3 to pot sized bet.

If you check the flop, you're done with the hand.

reraise more preflop....with your stack size, you priced him in to hit his set with your raise amount.....

Here was my thinking on the hand:
On that flop I was either way ahead (villain has a lower PP than me and is drawing to a 2-outer) or way behind (villain has an Ace). I figured I'd check behind on the flop and re-evaluate on the turn- folding to a significant turn/river bet.

When villain fired 1/2-pot on the turn I was not convinced that he had an Ace, as he would have defended a made hand better and not allow me to draw to a possible flush/straight/etc. I thus decided to call the turn, with the plan of folding to further aggression from villain on the river.

When Villain checked to me on the river, I really felt as if tho he had a pocket pair that he had tried to take the pot down with on the turn. Therefore I decided that I was going to value-bet an amount that I thought villain would likely call ($50 being the chosen amount).

I realize I really butchered this hand and my thought process while playing it was pretty F'ed up ... hopefully posting my thought process and hearing replies will help me learn to make better reads and understand betting lines more thoroughly

Bet the flop and be done with it after that.
