Right place for this move?
 

The time seemed right for this move. Yes or no?

5/5 NL at the Woods. Player A is a new player who has just sat down and short-bought for $400. Player B is an awful calling station who goes to virtually every river. He also has about $400. Player C is a good player but ends up irrelevant. I have the table covered.

Player A is UTG and opens for $25. Player B in UTG+1 calls, Player C calls. I'm on the button and call with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Flop: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Player A bets $125, Player B calls, Player C folds and I push.

Yeah I like it. Player A probably has an overpair. He should probably be able to lay this down (unless he correctly reads you for a semi-bluff). You said player B is a station so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a draw or TPGK.

Wouldn't it be correct for the other guy to call you with an overpair (not knowing what that he had A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]).

It would, however, that is the point of a semi-bluff, to push him off a better hand.

That's what I'm saying, it wouldn't push him off, but the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is a favorite so I'm not arguing that. I just don't see how you think it's right for the other guy to fold with only $250 left to call when there is $550 currently in the pot for him to win.

With potentially 15 outs (3 aces, 4 nines, 8 spades) - you're better than 50% to hit by the river if you get called, making this a no-brainer push in my mind.

Get all of your money in on the flop. If a spade hits, it kills your action, if a straight card hits (I forget which one it is), it kills your action, if an ace hits, KK and QQ (and other overpairs) will likely fold.

Thanks for the comments. I thought this was a pretty easy push, but it is alwasy good to get a reality check.

In the acutal event, both players called, to my delight. Player A showed KK, Player B showed JTo. Unfortunately, the turn and river were bricks and nobody improved. KK took down pretty big pot.

your pot equity when both call is a bit over 600, so you are making guaranteed profit in terms of EV not to mention the folding equity. this is an easy push, especially since the stacks aren't TOO deep.

You hit the perfect flop for that move, but in general I think youre going to lose alot of money calling that preflop raise with A7s
